Frank Goodrich
Birth: 19 March 1847 in East Constable, New York Fact #1
Death: 12 January, 1920 in Manitou, El Paso County, Colorado Fact #2
Buried:  Plymouth Notch, Vermont Fact #2&3
Parents: Samuel Goodrich (born Canada) & Mary Ann Powell (born Canada) Fact #2

Marriages:     #1 Eualia ( Delia) Arcouette  2 December1866 at St. Chrysostome, county of Chatwauguay, P. Q., Canada.  Also called St. Chrysostome of Valleyfield. Died 28 January, 1873, Havelock, Canada. Fact #1
#2 Margaret (Maggie) Nora Provost (Provo) Same Church as #1 10 October 1875 Fact #1
Note of interest in Marriage Information:  Frank was listed as Francois Xavier Boudrias or Goudria (depending on interpretation of writing of priest) Fact #1
War Service:  Civil War Union enlisted 13 September 1864, at Malone, New York, discharged 11 June 1865 at Suffolk, VA. Fact #1
Research Notes:  In the Pension records, (Which were dictated to a notary)  Frank Stated he lived with his parents and siblings during the summers of 1850 & 1860 in East Constable, New York.  This would place his parents living in that area. After his discharge he lived in Canada, or also referred to as Canada East, he also stated he lived in Russell Town, Canada for 6 years.    This area is where both of his marriages took place.  According to the 1880 Census records he had a son, Frank Junior, ( birth approx 1870) from his first wife. However, there is no mention of Frank Junior in the pension records.  He also had a daughter (Marie Josephine Eualie) born 19 January 1873, from his first wife.   His first wife died 10 days after the birth of their daughter.  Fact #1   T here is no mention of what happened to the child.
Frank had the following Siblings:
Brothers: Zeb Goodrich, Alex Goodrich, and Thomas Goodrich
Sisters:  Margaret Goodrich, Sophia Goodrich, Laura Goodrich, and Sarah Goodrich

My Personal Notes on Frank: Frank came home from the service with various health issues and saw a doctor in Canada.  Upon being asked to furnish the name of the doctor, he states ?Being French and possessed of scarcely any learning, I am unable to give his name.?  Another Poignant statement is:  ?Since coming to Vermont I am living so short a time in each place I do not get acquainted with anyone or they with me to give this affidavit to the point to me any good.?  He also stated his parents could not read or write. Frank worked as a common laborer most, if not all of his life.

My notes on further research:  All research seems to end at Samuel and Mary Ann.  However, in Mooers Fork Cemetery, in New York, there are Several Goodrich?s buried, among them a Samuel, born 1813  died 1879, and Margaret born 1821 died 1882.  Early New York records for that area show a Anselm Goodrich as a co-executor with Margaret for a Samuels Estate.  More research show a Chancy buried in Highland Cemetery in Altona.   Their dates are Anselm 1783-1856, Chancy 1811-1891.    These certainly fit in with Samuels Age could they be siblings?
Fact #1  Civil War Pension Records
Fact #2 Colorado Death Certificate
Fact #3 Online records & pictures

Hi Texasmarie,

My Grandfather was Earl Goodrich, great grandson of Frank & Evlalie(?).  After reading what you have and looking at the notes my Aunt gave me. Many differences in date, name spellings etc. Seems to be poor record keeping, but given the date, not unusual. If I can be of help or maybe help figure out something, please let me know      Aaaargh!!!
