Hello William,
Thank you for bringing your Question about Elizur's wife to our attention, as we are compiling a new Goodrich genealogy and we want to catch any errors if possible. Research shows the Case book listong id in error. Elizur, son of Simeon, did not marry Fanny Scranton, as you say, he married Jerusha W. Stillman. I see your Elizur married 2nd Prudence B. and his monument lists Henry E., Simeon, Rhoda, Riley F. and Clara M. He was quite a person of note - he and/or his son Elizur S. Goodrich are listed in Who's Who in New England, Who's Who in Finance, Men of Mark in Connecticut, and Sons of the American Revolution, to name some.
However I see where the Case book mistake came from - we (the GFA) have FHL scanned copies of the old, penned, Wethersfield vital records, one of which is the marriage of Elizur Goodrich to Fanny L. Scranton in 1820, no further information on this Elizur shown. I have found Fanny and her Elizur - not the one in the Case book - and their family buried in Rawson Hollow Cemetery, Tioga Co., NY. There are 22 Elizur's shown in the Case book, but not Fanny's, so I surmise it was easy to make a mistake in 1889.
Would you please share your lineage from Elizur to 1900 for addition to our new genealogy compilation? We are not including living persons. Send to me at
