I have managed to be a descendant of perhaps the only Goodrich out there without a pedigree back to the Mayflower.  The Reverend Franklin D. Goodrich of Massachusetts (1843-1918) has no ancestral history anywhere that I can find.  All I know is that his father was William and his mother Louisa, and both were born in Vermont.  I have found all I need about his life, and the ancestry of his wife, but nothing more on him.

I keep running across Goodrich projects, Goodrich websites, Goodrich family histories, and even Goodrich tire companies, but they always omit links to our Franklin.  With every new one I get my hopes up - only to have them dashed again.

OK... I've only been doing this for a few weeks and haven't subscribed to any of the pay sites yet.  Though I will eventually.  In the meantime, if anyone else finds themselves related to this poor man and has more info, I'd appreciate hearing of it.

Thx

Hello Arbie,
We appreciate your heads up to our webmaster that the forum needed some attention. We were able to get it back in order in short time.

While the Goodrich Family Association does have some information on your family we don't have much.  The usual historical sources come up empty of your family. This may be because they may not have stayed in any one location long enough to be included in biographies and historical sources.  For example, they are shown in New York in 1880, Reed City, MI in 1884, Grafton, Windham, Vermont in 1900, and Enfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts in 1910.

The best record we have is the 1880 U S Census of Genesee Falls, Wyoming, New York "Franklin Goodrich" listing with wife Sarah M. and 4 of their 5 children: Gracie, Edith, Lillian Maud and Rosa B. A later census shows only 2 children survived to that date.  There are many online Mayflower databases. You may have better luck tracing backwards through one of those.

You may be able to get a better idea which Goodrich branch you connect to through DNA testing with the Goodrich Surname DNA Project.  Feel free to contact me at:
