I am hoping that someone can help me find the parents/family of my great-great grandmother, Maria Chloe Goodrich.  She was born April 5, 1812 in Windham, CT.  She was married November 21, 1830 in Windsor, CT to Thomas Moore (from Montgomery County, PA).   Their second child Charles Seth Moore (my great grandfather) was born in Springfield, MA in 1834.  In 1850 they lived in Holyoke, MA per the Federal census.  The family moved to Minnesota sometime before 1860.

I have a copy of a diary written by my great grandfather.  I am hoping that there is a way to track down in a record somewhere an entry about a house being sold and bought dated Saturday, May 22, 1852 that says:

"Got up this morning at 5.  Eat breakfast at 6.15.  Commenced work at 6.30, and worked ?till 12.30.  Ate dinner at 1.  Went up home this afternoon at 2.15, with two others, and arrived there at 3.15. My Grandmother?s house was sold this afternoon for debt, but father bought it back again, and paid the debt.  Started for the city at 5, and arrived there at 6.  Went in swimming for the first time this year at 6.30.  Spent 9 cts. this afternoon for Cigars, &c.  Missed my gold dollar to-day.  Staid at Mr. Upton?s to-night.  Retired at 10.30 pm.  The weather the same as yesterday."

I have not found any information about this Goodrich family, but have lots of information about the Moore descendants.

Hello Pam,

I do note your Maria Chloe [Goodrich] Moore and family are shown in the 1850 Federal census at Holyoke, Massachusetts and in the 1860 census [Maria's name misspelled]at Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tracking her backwards to obtain her parents at 1812 is a difficult thing for a female child of that period.  But more and more records are being added online each year.  Perhaps she will be mentioned in a town or church history with her parents in time.  I checked our Goodrich Family Association indexed records without finding her; Barbour would be one possibility.  I understand there are plans to publish soon the Connecticut towns Barbour failed to include in his work.  They have now been compiled and are planned to be published within a year.  Perhaps you will luck in.  Stick with your search!
